Research 2008|2007|2005

Three years of research demonstrate the positive effect of ECOintention

Managers, project leaders and wardens have more time to themselves, are more relaxed and are better at achieving their goals. Improved organization, communication, productivity and finances in the business.

In 2005, 2007 and 2008 research was carried out into the effects of ECOintention in third and fourth year ECOintention Practitioner trainee projects.

93 organizations and ecosystems

62 trainees collaborated in the research. They balanced 93 projects. These projects were mainly in the Netherlands but also in Poland, Ireland, France and East Tibet. There was a broad range of projects: nature reserves belonging to Natuurmonumenten and Staatsbosbeheer (national Dutch nature organizations), the chestnut trees in the city of The Hague, agricultural and livestock organizations, tree nurseries, shops, schools and educational institutions, an advertising and architect’s office, a beauty salon, an art lending project, a road building company and an Irish rugby club. The trainees balanced the project for a year, on average three times a week, alone or together with another trainee. The balancing was carried out at home using a map of the project. The trainees used interventions from their own energetic toolkit to increase the vitality and health of the projects, for example positive attention, music, colors, homoeopathic treatments and symbols.

Research into well-being

In order to research the impact of ECOintention the Guardians were given a questionnaire with 11 statements about their well-being and the condition of their organization or project, at the start of the project, and after 4, 8 and 12 months. For example: “I have time for myself”, “I achieve my goals”, “My organization’s finances are healthy”. The Guardians assigned each statement a score of 1 to 7 depending on to what extent they agreed with the statement. In this way their opinions at the start and at the end of the project could be compared.

Reliable results

The research showed that in 2005, 2007 and 2008 the evaluation improved compared to the start of the project. In 2007 83% and in 2005 and 2008 92% of the statements showed statistically significant improvement. The 3-year research shows that managers and Guardians experience improvements in a large number of areas for themselves and their organizations / ecosystems at the end of an ECOintention process. They have more time to themselves, are more relaxed, have greater self-confidence, feel healthier and are better at achieving their goals. In their organization or project, they experience improved organization and communication. In general things get better rather than worse. Productivity increases and finances improve.

In 2005 and 2007 the greatest improvement was identified by the Guardians as being their financial situation. In 2008 we also saw significant improvement in this area. On average all trainees had similarly positive results. This shows that everyone can learn to balance at a distance and improve the profitability and vitality of organizations and ecosystems at scale.

The research was carried out by Ir. Jan Lamers, ‘Voor een Vitaal bedrijf’ ecointention@telfort.nl

The Irish North Kildare Rugby club didn’t lose any more games since their ECOintention in February 2008.
